Openprimaries Education Fund

Why Donate Bitcoin to Open Primaries Education Fund?

Most of the major funding for political reform work comes from the very individuals and organizations who want to go back to the status quo. We want to be the FIRST political reform group in the country that breaks those shackles and builds connections with the crypto community and starts accepting crypto to support our work. That’s why we’ve partnered with The Giving Block.

Save on your Taxes by Donating Crypto

Why Donate Crypto Directly? Taxes!

There’s a reason high net worth individuals tend to donate property instead of cash. Donating cryptocurrency directly to a 501c3 nonprofit is more tax efficient and can save you money.

The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation. That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. The difference? Sometimes more than 30%.

If you provide an email, you will automatically receive a tax receipt after donating.

When we receive your donation it is understood that this is made to support our mission and we’re grateful for your support. As these donations are often immediately converted into fiat, we do not offer refunds on any donations that are made in cryptocurrency. We are not able give refunds if you changed your mind, sent the wrong cryptocurrency or made the wrong decision. The Open Primaries Education Fund does not, has not, and will never offer any form of cryptocurrency airdrop, goods or services in return for a donation.
